Robert L. Forte

Robert L. Forte, known lovingly as “Papaw,” lived his life by three simple words: family, giving, and love. And he did them all well.

After proudly serving in the United States Navy, he married the love of his life, Rose M. Forte, and together they built a beautiful family of five. Papaw devoted his life to caring for his family and giving back to others every chance he got.

An active member of his church, he spent countless hours repairing, donating, and volunteering. He was always ready to lend a hand.

His woodworking skills brought beauty and joy to every special service and holiday, and his quiet acts of generosity

touched more people than he ever realized.

Papaw’s family was his pride and joy. There was nothing he would not do for us, a legacy of love and selflessness that lives on through each generation. He loved to dance, work puzzles, and simply be with those he cared about.

Throughout my childhood, Papaw was my constant. He was always there to support, to teach, and to guide. His version of math lessons did not always match what school expected, but they always came with patience, humor, and love. Looking back now, I cherish those moments even more. He shaped me into who I am today,

Even after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, Papaw never stopped giving.

Even through confusion, there was always love. He taught me to see the good in people, to lead with compassion, and to give back no matter what.

As a nurse manager, I carry those lessons with me every day. I truly believe I was meant to be part of and to lead our devoted Inpatient Rehab team because of Papaw.

Like him, we share the same values: dedication, compassion, positivity, and above all, love. We strive to serve our community, lift each other up, and find light even in hard times, just as Papaw did.

It is an honor to live a life of service, to give back, and to support organizations like the Giving Voice Foundation, who share these same values.

Because of Papaw, I know that love is the greatest legacy a person can leave behind.
